CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Aulerci Diablintes. Late 2nd to mid 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 20 mm, 6.36 g, 11 h), 'à l'aigriette au décor cloisonné' type. Celticized head of Apollo to right, the hair devolved into leaf-like ornaments and with two strings of pearls ending in miniature human heads coming out of his own head. Rev. Devolved charioteer, driving cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins in his right hand; below, winged male figure to right. DT 2173. LT 6527. SLM 223-224. A lovely and nicely toned piece with an attractive obverse. Edge split, otherwise, very fine.
